We are seeking a Member Advisor to help us continue our rich tradition of serving our community – since 1943!

What do our Member Advisors do?

You are one of the first people our members encounter at the branch. You will help them with whatever they are looking for or guide them to identify services and solutions they may not yet be aware of. Our Member Advisors serve our members through various channels: in person, digitally or by phone. 

Don’t have banking experience? Not to worry; we have a great training program! This is an excellent opportunity for the customer service focused professional who has experience in retail, hospitality, or financial services.

As a Member Advisor, you will:

  • Greet our members and provide them with the services they seek,
  • Process transactions,
  • Provide troubleshooting and guidance around the use of our technology products or any other challenges a member may have,
  • Highlight and promote our credit union products and solutions,
  • Engage in proactive member communication by participating in outbound calling, credit union promotions, campaigns, and other creative strategies,
  • Identify suspicious transactions or interactions and respond appropriately. 

What you need for this role:

  • Customer service experience
  • Sales skills
  • Experience handling cash and completing financial transactions
  • Tech savviness and a love for technology
  • A desire to learn in a culture that embraces ongoing learning and development
  • Enjoyment in working with the public – by engaging and providing assistance to meet our members’ needs

  • Hours: Permanent full-time, 37.5 hours weekly. Typical scheduling is from 8:30am – 5:00pm, CST, Monday to Friday.
  • Salary: $45,800 to $57,200 per annum.
  • Location: St. Walburg, SK. This position will also provide coverage at the Paradise Hill Branch location and occasionally may be required to travel to other branch locations, as required.

Elevate Your Career: Internal Advancement Opportunities

These opportunities are specifically for Synergy employees in support of career progression.

We are seeking an Investment Associate who is passionate about increasing members’ financial fitness to achieve financial well-being. You will be part of the Wealth Connect Team, working with your peers to serve clients with portfolios under $100K. You’ll be making calls and sending emails, utilizing virtual service as the primary method of customer contact.

At the core of your work, you help our members identify and set goals, assist with budgeting and cash-flow management, and ensure their growing portfolios are carefully cultivated. You will celebrate alongside clients as they reach their goals. As needs change and portfolios grow, you’ll refer them to other team members for optimal service.

As an Investment Associate, you will:

  • Proactively reach out to members and potential members by phone and email,
  • Build strong relationships within your segment, setting clients up with an experience that forms the basis for a lifelong relationship with Synergy,
  • Partner with the member to learn about their financial goals and the factors driving their goals and beliefs around money,
  • Develop your own performance goals and plan to grow your portfolio,
  • Review member financial information and provide portfolio updates,
  • Network with professionals, participate in and lead community events with the goals of business development & brand building,
  • Ensure all activities are compliant with applicable legislation, and practices in the areas of financial planning, including policies, procedures, and processes.

This role is the ideal starting point for someone looking to grow their career with the Wealth Team. Educational support toward a CFP or PFP may be provided.

What you need for this role:

  • Related post-secondary education (i.e. Diploma or Degree in Business, Finance etc.) with 1-2 years of experience growing a book of business, achieving targets, and making referrals,
  • Must have a mutual fund license and maintain registration eligibility,
  • Completion of Financial Planning Designation (i.e. CFP, PFP) is considered an asset,
  • Working knowledge of financial planning, tools, and concepts, and knowledge of financial wellness in a variety of forms,
  • Developing sales skills and the ability to maintain a sales pipeline,
  • High proficiency with virtual appointments (i.e. Teams: sharing content, etc.),
  • Competence with a range of budgeting processes and cash-flow management,
  • The ability to have outstanding member interactions using a variety of channels by utilizing well-developed listening skills and asking insightful questions.

What does a Financial Services Associate or Advisor (FSA) do? 

As an FSA, you work in a retail banking environment where you have a meaningful impact on the financial wellness of members. You connect with existing and prospective members, understand their financial and personal goals, provide informative and personalized advice, and recommend the right products and solutions to achieve their goals and enable their financial success.

Our ideal candidate is a relationship builder. You’re motivated, with strong problem-solving and organizational skills. You'll be a part of a team of knowledgeable professionals who share a genuine commitment to working with and delivering exceptional service to our membership, including account and deposit products, investments, including the sales of mutual funds (for our Advisor role), and consumer lending products and services, with some potential for small business/ag loans.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage a portfolio of members, partnering with current and potential members to understand their goals and priorities,
  • Advise on and deliver a variety of products and services to successfully meet members’ needs,
  • Engage in outreach, marketing, and follow-up opportunities to proactively seek out new business and deepen existing relationships, and
  • Promote Synergy Credit Union within our communities, including engaging in business development activities, volunteerism, phone calls, emails, and participating in campaigns.

What you bring…

  • Related post-secondary education (such as a Diploma or Degree in Business) and one to four years of job-related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong experience in consumer lending is required.
  • Relationship and business development skills.
  • Previous sales experience working with goals, strong closing/referral techniques, and pipeline development is desired.
  • Strong interpersonal and listening skills; can carry on great interactions in a variety of channels.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Mutual Fund Accreditation or successful completion of accreditation will be required within a timeframe.
