Synergy Credit Union Announces 2024 Synergy Shares Scholarship Winners

Synergy Credit Union is proud to announce the winners of the 2024 Synergy Shares Scholarship program. This year’s recipients, Drake Wilson, Pyper Bell, and Hailey Wenger, have demonstrated exceptional academic performance and a commitment to their future careers. We are honored to support their educational journeys.

Pyper Bell from Lloydminster is a Bachelor of Commerce student majoring in Accounting at Lakeland College. She shared that the scholarship will be a positive boost to her full-time college studies, helping her maintain focus and achieve more. Pyper aims to become a Certified Professional Accountant and work towards becoming a Chief Financial Officer.

Hailey Wenger from Lloydminster is enrolled in the University Transfer program for a Bachelor of Education in Science at Lakeland College. Hailey noted that the scholarship will alleviate her financial burdens, allowing her to focus more on her studies and pursue opportunities like studying abroad. She hopes to earn a Master's in Education and make a meaningful impact on Canadian students. Hailey looks forward to becoming a high school biology teacher and volleyball coach in a small community.

Drake Wilson from Lashburn is attending the University of Saskatchewan, where he is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Engineering with a major in Civil Engineering. As the recipient of the in-house scholarship for children and spouses of Synergy employees and Directors, Drake expressed that receiving this scholarship will ease his tuition costs, relieve his parents' financial burden, and reduce his need for student loans. He aspires to design state-of-the-art structures and eventually own his engineering firm.

“This year there were over 118 applications for the scholarship, which is in its fourth year,” said Glenn Stang, CEO of Synergy Credit Union. “At Synergy Credit Union, we believe in the power of education and the importance of supporting our local students. We are thrilled to award these scholarships to such deserving individuals. Drake, Pyper, and Hailey have bright futures ahead, and we are proud to play a part in their academic and professional development.”

Each student will receive $1,000 annually for up to four years to complete their post-secondary education.

This year Synergy Credit Union allocated a total of $50,000 to be distributed through established scholarship programs throughout our local communities, including First Nation communities. The Synergy Shares Scholarship program is part of Synergy Credit Union’s ongoing commitment to investing in the communities we serve.

We congratulate all the winners and wish them continued success in their educational pursuits. We would also like to thank everyone who applied.
